This podcast series ParadigmShift, by the Global Institute for Lifelong Empowerment (GiLE), takes listeners on a journey of thought-provoking conversations focusing on bringing about growth and change in education.

In this episode, I’m talking to Somi Tom about continuous professional development, how it impacts students’ learning experience and how it relates to the times that we live in. We then move on to talk about the challenges institutions faced during the Covid-19 lockdown, the opportunities that Emergency Remote Teaching provided us with and why it is crucial to now develop this approach to something more mature from September onwards. Finally, we talk about the new publication “English for 21st Century Skills” that Daniel Xerri and I co-edited and have chapters in (see post at the end of this page). How can we integrate a 21-century skills pedagogy into our teaching and in what way can it help students to evolve and cope with the realities of the world that we live in?

Have a listen to this 18-minute podcast (embedded above) and catch up on the previous ones from the same series here. Many thanks to GiLE podcast team Somikazi Tom and Attila Kovács for hosting it.

This is the new book I’m referring to:

Mavridi, S. & Xerri, D. (Eds). (2020). English for 21st Century Skills. Berkshire: Express Publishing.
